Hertha BSC Announces Sandro Schwarz as New Head Coach

Schwarz Joins from Dynamo Moscow

Taking Over First Team on June 3, 2022

Berlin, Germany – Hertha BSC has appointed Sandro Schwarz as their new head coach, effective June 3, 2022. Schwarz joins the Bundesliga club from Russian Premier League side Dynamo Moscow, where he has been in charge since 2020.

The 43-year-old German manager has a wealth of experience in both German and international football. He previously managed Mainz 05 in the Bundesliga and worked as an assistant coach at Borussia Dortmund under Jürgen Klopp. Schwarz also had a brief spell in charge of the German U19 national team.

Speaking about his appointment, Schwarz said: "I am delighted to be joining Hertha BSC and I am looking forward to working with this talented group of players. I want to create a team that is both exciting to watch and successful on the pitch. We want to work both with and for each other."

Hertha BSC sporting director Fredi Bobic added: "We are very pleased to have secured the services of Sandro Schwarz. He is a highly respected coach with a proven track record of developing young players and getting the best out of his teams. We believe that he is the right man to lead Hertha BSC into a new era."

Schwarz will take charge of his first Hertha BSC match on June 5, 2022, when the team hosts Borussia Mönchengladbach in a friendly match. The Bundesliga season begins on August 6, 2022, with Hertha BSC facing Werder Bremen in their opening match.
